Fees

Costs & Contributions: 

We understand that supporting a rower through the season is a significant financial commitment for families. At MBC Rowing, we do everything we can to keep costs manageable while providing a high-quality rowing experience.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of our Fundraising Committee and Job Squads, many expenses can be offset. Any fundraising your son participates in is credited directly to his rowing account. We also apply for grants to help cover key costs such as van hire and accommodation.

Despite these efforts, MBC Rowing operates on a very tight budget. We rely on timely payments and successful grant applications to ensure the programme runs smoothly. Please note that if fees are not paid in full before departure, students may be unable to attend regattas or camps.

2025–2026 Season Costs: 

Wairau Rowing Subs:

• College First year and Cox Subs: $810 ($405 due 20th December and remainder due 28th February)

• Senior and College Rowers Subs: $896 ($448 due 20th December and remainder due 28th February)

Payment Schedule: 50% due 20 December 2025, balance by 28 February 2026.

Included in the Fees are the affiliation fees to Rowing New Zealand (RNZ)

Clothing Costs:

• Row suits: approx. $100 each (students need two – one for MBC and one for Wairau)

• Additional gear may include a t-shirt, singlet, cap, and hoodie

• Clothing must be paid for at the time of purchase
  
  

Training Camps & Regattas: 

Regattas are a key part of the rowing season and include travel, food, accommodation, and boat transport, which are not covered by subs. 

Families should expect each regatta to cost between $300 and $500 per rower, depending on location and duration. We aim to provide as much notice as possible for each event’s cost. 

Fundraising and grants can help reduce individual costs, ensuring all rowers have the opportunity to participate. 

Making Payments: 

To help spread costs, families are encouraged to set up an automatic payment plan. If you’d like to take up this option, please contact our Treasurer, Catherine Randall, at cathrandall79@gmail.com to let her know.
