Marlborough Boys’ College Rowing has a proud tradition of success and continues to develop young men through one of the most demanding and rewarding sports in New Zealand.
From early mornings on the Wairau River to national competition at Maadi Cup, our rowers learn resilience, teamwork, discipline, and the value of hard work — skills that shape them for life.
We invite local businesses and community partners to support our programme through sponsorship and help ensure rowing remains strong, accessible, and competitive at Marlborough Boys’ College.

Rowing is a significant part of Marlborough Boys’ College’s sporting identity and history. Since 2021, both Marlborough Boys’ College and Marlborough Girls’ College rowing programmes have been based out of the Wairau Rowing Club, creating a strong, connected rowing community and access to excellent facilities.
Our rowers compete under Wairau Rowing Club colours for part of the season before switching into MBC school colours (blue and gold) for secondary school regattas.

OUR ROWING TEAM
The Marlborough Boys’ College rowing squad is made up of around 20–30 young men, training up to 11 times per week during peak season. This level of commitment requires significant support from coaches, families, and the wider community.
Within the squad, senior rowers mentor younger athletes, helping to build leadership and a strong team culture.
As one MBC rowing parent says:

Over the past 12 years at Maadi Cup, MBC has achieved a cumulative medal tally of:
