If you are interested in joining the rowing club or learning more, please email info@mbcrowing.co.nz at any time.
The Learn to Row program is open to complete beginners in years 8 to 12. Students need to be attending Marlborough Boys' College or planning to attend the school.
Our Learn to Row course for the 2025/26 season has ended, but we frequently offer Learn to Row programmes via Wairau Rowing Club throughout the year; keep an eye out on our socials and learn more!
More information regarding the yearly Learn to Row Course for the 2026/27 season will be announced closer to the time.
Rowing combines fitness and fun, offering physical challenge and team camaraderie. Whether casual or competitive, it brings satisfaction on the water. Our head coach, Clayton, has strong experience coaching coxswains, who learn boat dynamics, coaching skills, and leadership. Marlborough Boys' College Rowing Club offers lifelong friendships, intense training, nationwide travel, and the chance to represent the school. Many hesitate to try rowing due to misconceptions about body type or fitness, but these should not stop you from joining.
Any individual participating in rowing is required to:
Complete the MBC College rowing registration, the usual sign-up process
AND
Register with Rowing New Zealand via Rowing Connect - (click on picture to register)
Participants under the age of 18 years old now require a parent or guardian to also register with Rowing NZ via completing a separate Rowing Connect registration (using the same link). Parents can register at the same time as, before, or after their child registers – whatever works best. The registration form will look different if you select ‘parent’ or ‘rower’, only showing applicable information.
The slideshow below provides step-by-step instructions to register with Rowing New Zealand.
(e.g. license or unlicensed rowers, coaches, committee members, race officials, volunteers, supporters, parents etc).
